Terms of use
Mull Reader is free, open-source software offered at no cost. By using it you accept the terms below. They are short, because the app does very little on your behalf: it reads a file you choose and shows it to you.
Licence
The source code is released under the MIT Licence. You are free to use, copy, modify, and redistribute it under that licence's terms, including for commercial purposes. The bundled libraries — marked, DOMPurify, and highlight.js — remain under their own licences.
No warranty
Mull Reader is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. It may contain defects, may render some documents incorrectly, and may be unavailable at any time.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the authors and copyright holders are not liable for any claim, damages, or other liability arising from the use of this software — including any loss of or damage to your documents or data.
It is not storage, and it is not a backup
Mull Reader displays files that already exist on your device. It does not store, sync, or back up anything, and it cannot recover a file you lose. Keep your own copies of anything you care about.
Your documents and your responsibility
You are responsible for the files you open and for having the right to read them. Document content is rendered as HTML after being sanitised with DOMPurify, which removes scripts and event handlers, but no sanitiser is perfect — treat documents from untrusted sources with the same caution you would give any untrusted file.
Third-party content
Documents may contain links and remote images that load from other people's servers. Those resources are not part of Mull Reader, are not endorsed by it, and are governed by the terms and privacy policies of whoever provides them.
Availability
The hosted version at mullreader.com is offered as a convenience with no guarantee of uptime, and may be changed or withdrawn at any time. Because the project is open source, you can always run your own copy.
Changes
These terms may be updated; the current version always lives on this page, and every revision is visible in the commit history. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
